The Initial Spark
Last year, we were trying to get Jade (then 6) and Sebastian (then 8) ready for a winter golf camp and struggled to find even remotely workable solutions that they would not protest. I don't know about your kids, but ours can be very picky when it comes to the cut, colors, fabrics, and fit of their everyday clothes. I leveraged my Nike account and came up short due to a lack of size and product availability.
I navigated an endless number of local stores. From Dick’s Sporting Goods to Target, the PGA Store, Carters, J.Crew, and Golf Galaxy, and ultimately landed at Old Navy, which didn’t have great options but had a few things I could work with in hopes that Jade and Sebastian would accept my less-than-ideal offering.
Ultimately, Jade went to camp wearing a pair of boys' khaki pants (so big that we had to stick a safety pin in the back) and a light blue polo (the only color in her size: XX-Small). Additionally, December was colder than expected in usually sunny Pasadena, so we walked into the golf club’s Pro Shop to find an extra layer. The only items they had were hoodies in black and gray - too small for Seb and too big for Jade, but off they went!
As kids, they both came back with grass stains (a sign of a great time), which we couldn't get out in the wash, so they had to return to camp the next day in less-than-ideal attire.
